THE LEVYS OF MONTICELLO
This remarkable documentary by Steven Pressman highlights a missing chapter of American Jewry. After Thomas Jefferson died, Uriah Phillips Levy (a Jewish naval officer) purchased his Monticello home, restoring and preserving the estate against ruin. Levy was a follower of Jefferson and his views on religious freedom. The Levys of Monticello also touches on issues of slavery and the rise of antisemitism in America.
