In the beginning of WWII, with Britain becoming desperate, Prime Minister Winston Churchill hastily orders his new spy agency – Special Operations Executive (SOE) – to recruit and train women as spies. Their daunting mission: conduct espionage, sabotage, and build a resistance in occupied Europe. The film is based on research from numerous sources including OSS File and SOE Files. This band of fearless, female spies became Winston Churchill’s secret weapon against the Nazis, and A CALL TO SPY celebrates their untold stories.

    Breaking Bread

Exotic cuisine and a side of politics are on the menu in BREAKING BREAD.

Dr. Nof Atamna-Ismaeel, the first Muslim Arab to win Israel’s Master Chef, is on a quest to make social change through food. And so, she founded the A-sham Arabic Food Festival, where pairs of Arab and Jewish chefs collaborate on exotic dishes like kishek (a Syrian yogurt soup) and qatayef (a dessert typically served during Ramadan).

The documentary appetizingly demonstrates the recipe for tolerance often can be found within the pages of cuisine diplomacy. A film about hope, synergy and mouth watering fare, BREAKING BREAD illustrates what happens when people focus on the person rather than religion, on the public rather than the politicians.

Bully. Coward. Victim: The Story of Roy Cohn

BULLY. COWARD. VICTIM: THE STORY OF ROY COHN takes a detailed look at the controversial lawyer and fixer who is remembered as one of the most vilified lawyers of the 20th Century.

From McCarthyism’s chief architect in the 1950s to President Donald J. Trump’s mentor throughout the 1980s, Roy Cohn’s amoral career was a dark stain on American politics. Targeting homosexuals and sending Jewish communists Julius and Ethel Rosenberg to the electric chair, the Jewish and closeted homosexual Cohn’s ruthless tactics reeked of self-loathing.

This vivid portrait is cast by Cohn’s friends, family, colleagues, employees, and lovers, some of whom were, at times, political targets of Cohn, and all of whom were profoundly affected by their interactions with him. Directed by Ivy Meeropol, the Rosenberg’s granddaughter, BULLY. COWARD. VICTIM: THE STORY OF ROY COHN offers insight into his profound influence on contemporary politics and captures the many facets of evil contained in this notorious man.

    Glickman

GLICKMAN is a biography of the Jewish sprinter known as the “Flatbush Flash” who went on to become a New York sports broadcasting institution.

Before Marv Albert and Bob Costas, there was Marty Glickman - a gifted Jewish-American athlete who was denied the chance to represent the U.S. at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He went on to become one of the most revered and influential sportscasters in history, pioneering many of the techniques, phrases and programming innovations that are commonplace in sports reporting today. Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese served as Executive Producer on this documentary. Featuring archival footage and interviews with such notables as Marv Albert, Bob Costas, Bill Bradley, Jim Brown, Frank Gifford, Larry King, Jerry Stiller, New York Giants co-owner John Mara and others, GLICKMAN tells the story of a man who overcame prejudice to forge a remarkable career and set the gold standard for sports broadcasters throughout history.

  • Goodbye, Columbus

In the classic film GOODBYE, COLUMBUS, a romance blossoms between a bookish guy from humble roots and a free-spirited girl from a wealthy family.

Neil, a young librarian in New Jersey, has eyes for Brenda, a beautiful Radcliffe student. Although they are both Jewish, Brenda's family is much wealthier and more conservative than Neil's. As their disparate ideas about sex and birth control come to the fore, their feelings for each other are put to the test.

One of the landmark comedies of the 1960s and perhaps the best screen rendition of the work of Philip Roth was this adaptation of the author’s National Book Award-winning novella of the same name. A valid social satire for the time, GOODBYE, COLUMBUS also launched the careers of its two stars, Richard Benjamin and Ali MacGraw.

Ottolenghi And The Cakes Of Versailles

Via London, Versailles, and social media, OTTOLENGHI AND THE CAKES OF VERSAILLES follows famous chef Yotam Ottolenghi on his quest to bring the sumptuous art and decadence of Versailles to life in cake form.

The London-based Israeli chef and celebrated cookbook author assembles a team—a who's who of the dessert world - to help bring his vision to life while organizing a food gala inspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit “Visitors to Versailles.” Exploring the relationship between modern-day social media and the open court of the French monarchy, the film studies the alarmingly cyclical intersection between food, culture, and history.

OTTOLENGHI AND THE CAKES OF VERSAILLES perfectly captures the heights of human achievement and the frailty of decadence, adding taste as one more sense with which to experience the Met.

    They Ain't Ready For Me

THEY AIN’T READY FOR ME explores the complex identity and motivations of an extraordinary person who is Jewish and Black, and how these intersecting identities offer her a road map for addressing one of America’s most urgent crises.

Every day, Tamar Manasseh, a vivacious, self-assured and magnetic mother of two, sits on the corner of 75th and South Stewart Avenue in the Englewood section of Chicago. This is the ghetto, where poverty, unemployment, addiction and violence relentlessly plague the neighborhood and its residents. For years, this has been considered one of the “worst” neighborhoods in the city and people get shot on the streets with regularity. Politicians rail against the violence yet fail to offer real solutions. But Tamar Manasseh is more than just a concerned mother –she’s a 41year-old black rabbinical student. Her unique background and upbringing give her a perspective that few people can claim. Both authentically Jewish and authentically Black, she brings an understanding of both of these communities, even as she struggles for acceptance in each one. THEY AIN’T READY FOR ME shows Tamar’s struggle for acceptance as well as the ways Tamar’s Judaism influences her activism.

    The Untameable Kirk Douglas

One of the brightest stars in Hollywood’s Golden Age, THE UNTAMEABLE KIRK DOUGLAS traces the life and career of the legendary Jewish-American actor.

With his rugged good looks, distinctive voice, muscular intensity and that cleft chin, Kirk Douglas’ commanding presence in films like “Lust for Life,” “Spartacus” and “Paths of Glory” ensured success. But his back story was the stuff movies are made of. Douglas was the son of illiterate Russian Jewish immigrants and one of seven children. He grew up poor and worked odd jobs to pay for his college education and to support himself while studying acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. At that time, he had no idea what his future had in store. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II — and a brief career on the Broadway stage — Douglas made his first Hollywood film and never looked back. It is difficult to encapsulate the life and career of the legendary Kirk Douglas.

From his humble, impoverished beginnings to his crusade against McCarthy’s blacklist to his close-knit circle of family and friends, THE UNTAMEABLE KIRK DOUGLAS is not only the story of the thespian’s career, it is the story of America in the 20th century itself.
